During the interviewing process we ask you to provide contact information for your professional references. During the reference check we use our system, Spark hire, to reach out to the references you provided to get a better idea of what it's like to work with you. Reference checks are part of our interview process, so we can get to know more about how best to work with you and are assessed in determining if we will move to the offer stage.

Wondering who and how to ask someone to be a reference? Use these tips:

• Email or Text the person you’re asking. Give them context on the company, role you’re applying for and why you’d be a good fit!
• Make sure to ask for their phone number and email address if you don’t already have both.
• When considering who to ask- ensure their opinion and knowledge of who you are and your experience is relevant to the job you’re applying for. Think teachers, coaches, mentors, employers, employees, or coworkers.
• Show your appreciation for taking their time to be your reference. #LiveGratitude!
• Follow up- let them know if you got the job so they can continue to be invested in your journey!
