<aside> 💡 Our weeklong Expedition Camps transport 5th – 12th graders to some of the most stunning, secluded natural spaces in Colorado and Wyoming for an authentic—and transformative—experience. Expedition campers travel from Avid4 Adventure warehouse to locations in the Colorado backcountry or Wyoming, sleep in tents every night and adventure every day, choosing to focus on a mountain biking, climbing, backpacking, paddling or multi-sport experience. In addition to exploring their spectacular surroundings and logging lots of practice in their sport of choice, they learn lasting skills in everything from gear management and cooking outdoors to problem solving and teamwork. Perfect for kids and teens craving a genuine outdoors experience in a small-group setting, our eye-opening expeditions give campers the know-how and confidence they need for many adventures to come.

Overview

In Expeditions, you are not supplied with bedding and you are required to bring your own sleeping bag and pad. During the work week, expect to sleep in tents with no electricity, no running water, no showers and you may sometimes be sleeping in the same tent with an instructor of a different gender. You are expected to bring your own sleeping bag, pad, backpack, and proper clothing/footwear. Avid provides all the group gear, tents, cooking gear, gear for core sports, etc.

Weekly Schedule

• Expeditions run from Sunday 7 am to Friday 6 pm
• Camper drop off and pick up will take place at our home base facility locations. Expedition instructors will transport their campers with gear in 15 passengers van with trailers to their respective locations.
• Staff will have meetings every Sunday morning before camper check-in and every Friday evening after check-out.
• Sunday AM Drop Off: On Sunday morning, we start with a team meeting, checking supplies, vans and trailers. Around 10 am, instructors are meeting parents and campers for the first time. Instructors should check that campers have everything they need for the week, remind parents of their pick up day & time, review any notes parents had shared in their registration, and check-in about any goals for the week.
• Parent Updates: On Tuesday and Thursday, you will send your Camp Leadership a text with a group update and picture that is shared with their families. These updates are a huge highlight to our parents and set us apart from other programs
• Friday PM Pickup: On Friday afternoon, staff will lead a memorable closing circle for camper families to see a glimpse of what your trip was like.
• Friday Evening De-Issue: After parents leave, staff will be expected to spend 2-4 hours de-issuing their trip (cleaning and organizing equipment, vans, and trailers) and preparing for the following week.
